This was a Letter we received from Chance the other day. I am going to type it out EXACTLY like it was written, just because you can read Chance's personality SO well

Dear Family
Hi I just had a little time to write so
I thought I would send a letter.

WOW I have so much to say.
Serious, I could write 4 ever and not
say everything I want 2 say.

So it is very beautiful here. There are
many coconut trees and banana trees and
lots of other fruits that I don't know the
names of. But it is all very good.

It's great because there are SO MANY ORGANIC foods here!!
Like when we want bread, we go to the bakery. When we want rice,
we go find the farmer selling rice.

So that's how we shop.

There are not really many stores, just people selling whatever
they make out of their houses. Its very cool.

There are some regular stores in the mall.
The malls are HUGE like bigger than the Layton Hill Mall.
They have escalators, elevators, lots of people and stores.
And fast food.

McDonald's is GREAT and I like Chow King, but like
most of the other Philippine fast food is awful, like
if you go to Pizza Hut they give you bread with Easy Cheese on it.
Ya, like the kind they use on Ritz Crackers. Then they
put ketchup and toppings. Uggggg SO GROSS

OK So Things I Miss.

MILK - There is NO milk here. Well there is but
it's very expensive because it is
imported from New Zealand
DAIRY - OK so No milk, yep you guessed it NO Dairy.
So no cheese, No yogurt and No Butter.
(but I got some butter, it was expensive like I really wanted it for cooking)
CANDY - So far I have found Kit Kat's Oreos and Chips Ahoy
(like the cookies) and that's it. Like I really want
like some M&M's and Reese's and Star Bursts.
Yeah, I just miss candy.
BEEF - OK so beef is really hard to find and its expensive
We eat Pork and Chicken
MUSTARD - Ya, NO mustard. And I miss it because they have
Hot dogs, well they are chicken dogs or pork
but not having mustard on it is sad.
PEPPER - Ya, they have lots of salt, but it is hard
to find pepper and pepper is good on food, so
that's sad.

OH SO GOOD THINGS

SODA - They have all Coke products but
NO diet Soda!!!
And the Soda they have has sugar NOT High fructose corn syrup!
FRUIT
VEGGIES
And ya, most of the food is good, but
I do miss Dairy the most cuz think about it, NO cheese on pasta
nothing that has milk as a ingredient.
Oh, P.S. the bread is made with coconut milk

OK SO NEXT

AMERICANS
OK, so there are NO Americans here. I have not
seen any except other missionaries. So everyone freaks
out when they see Americans. Like kids come say "Hi".
People ask me how rich I am. Sometimes I will turn around
and like 10 kids will be following me. Ha Ha its pretty funny.
So ya, people want to know if I know different American Actors
and singers and Famous people. Pretty funny.

OK so you are Probably wondering how the most tourist ed Island in
the Philippines doesn't have Americans on it. OK I'll explain.
So the very North part of the Island is a Huge resort that
has golf and like just tons of tourist stuff. Like it's HUGE.
So that's where all the tourist go.
But all the roads are paved here. And most people
speak English quite well.
Like Church is in English and TV, and Radio. But most People
are fluent in Ilongo. Which is not Tagalog by the way.
So ya, that has been hard because, like it's hard to
forget Tagalog and learn Ilongo
Like all the Missionaries here say they have forgotten
the Tagalog they learned at the MTC.

SO WEATHER

Umm it rains every day like 5 times. The rain last 4 like 20
minutes. When it rains it's crazy like pouring down rain.
OK so something funny. All the Philippines think that if you get
wet you will get sick. So when it rains like everyone
hides Ha Ha. And like if you get wet people freak and say you should
go get medicine. So yeah, that's great.

OK SO TRAVEL

Ummm ya we ride Jeepneys and Tricycles
Ya people ride on the sides and on the roofs and all over.
It's pretty funny.

So IDK what else to write. Like if I get into anything
else, Ill have to write like 5 more pages, so I wont.

Hello Everyone

I got some letters today!!!!!!!!!
Thank you friends and family your letters made my day and I will right you back soon.
Most of the letters I got were sent in like the first week of October so ya the mail is slow.

OK so for real this week has been the best so far.

OK so I was asked to be a God Father
OK so long story but here it goes.

So remember that awesome guy I was telling you about Rosario. And he has a wife Jerrilyn and a adopted son John John and another son who's name escapes me.....
OK so here is the story.
this guy Rosario has like no friends and just works all day at a bakery to take care of his family.
He also has been receiving lessons from Me and Elder Madrona. and its really good because he speaks like perfect English so I am able to teach him also and just throw in English on words I don't know. So anyway. this guy is awesome like for real. he just has the best testimony and he loves his family so much. He is 18 years old..

So anyway he has been working on getting married so that he can be baptized into the church but its been really hard because he doesn't have a birth certificate and because John John is technically not his son so there were all these legal things and it just was hard.

Anyway he showes up at our house early Wednesday morning and nocks on our door and is like. "Hey so I got my birth certificate me and Jerrilyn are going to get married in 2 hrs.... and we are like woooo! really... and he is like ya I don't want to wait.... (weddings are not like a big celebration here because no one has any money) so anyway we hop on the back of his motorcycle and he takes us to the Mayors office. and they get the papers ready. then he comes and asks me if he can talk to me.. I'm like ummm OK.

Anyway he told me that he doesn't know anyone and has no family that he knows of... so he was wondering if I would be his two sons Godfather.. if anything happened to him and Jerrilyn.... I was like umm yes but like I'm a foreigner and I dont know because I'm a missionary.. so long story short I called the mission president and I asked him and I asked the Mayor about the legal stuff and ya they said no.. so he just left that line blank but ya I'm sure he will be fine. and he was ok with it but ya I dont know, that might have been cool. The boy John John reminds me of Joyah so much. He is so cute and he is two years old so ya its great....

Ya crazy right. like I'm pretty sure everything is going to be fine but ya. anyway kinda crazy. So they are married

So two days later they decided they were moving to Manila to start a real life. so they are gone now... (ya they don't have anything so to move was really easy) but they were not baptized before they left.... so the morning they were going to Manila we went and taught a lesson about enduring to the end. and they promised they would be baptized in Manila... anyway it was just really great... everyone was crying. and the spirt was really strong. So we got word Monday they called the misson pres and told him that they went to church in Manila and its wonderful and they made appointments to meet with the missionaries there. so ya that makes me really happy...

OK so its just been great. so for the end of Wednesday and all of Thursdays and most of Friday elder madrona was not my companion... elder winger was (he is this guy from utah idk were) (so ya the lesson to Rosario was not with elder madrona) and wow this guy was great he taught me so much and we were so productive and just taught lots of lessons and did lots of good in the area.. (oh PS elder Madrona was in special meeting with the pres. about his obedience issues).. so ya it was great..


I'm sending a few pics from the wedding and some others...

ya so I found out the hard way that if pinoy people see a camera they take it and like force you up against a wall and try to take pics with you.... lol its so funny but ya everyone wants a pic with a White guy.. so funny..... Ya I feel famous sometimes. like a movie star... Oh my gosh on P days or service days when I'm walking around town in my regular clothes people like are all over the place following me asking to take a pic with me... wanting to just like say hi to me and find out who I am... waving. offering me like tricycle rides for free and ya its crazy I feel so famous lol.... its prob not good for my ego.. so funny... like I have not seen a single American sense I have been here. except the other missionaries... so ya Philippians's get way exited and so ya kinda cool anyway

All is well. Next week we are going to Iloilo city for zone conference so that should be cool.

I love it here. This week was SO great and lots of good came out of it..

I love and miss you all........... I loved the letters thank you..


Oh ya tell me about Halloween.... i want to here about all your crazy Halloween stories I'm sure everyone has good ones...
